En finir avec l’hétéromance
(This workshop about diversity in romance is open to English speaking people)
What to make of the well-established concept of “romance” in today’s LARP? How can we reflect the diversity (homo, bi, trans, non-binary, ace, …) of orientations and identities? If gays have long accepted to play straight romances without being asked, should we ask straight people’s opinion to play gay romances because it would make them “uncomfortable”? Writing and offering a romance in a game means taking risks. Playing a romance also means taking risks (ageism, grooming, game denial, etc.). By comparing the diversity of our experiences, we’ll examine the word and the thing together, in the hope of laying the foundations for a practical guide and opening up the field of possibilities – and transformations – of this famous “romance”, which need be neither problematic, obligatory nor stereotyped.
