There are magic words, “I declare to you…”, “I swear…”, “I promise you…”, statements that don’t just say, but act. If language can produce acts, what about our fictions and performances?
Faced with future perils, some are rewriting history or exploring other possibilities. It seems that today, more than ever, Larps are questioning political issues by deconstructing, replaying and experimenting with them. Game design is at the heart of this reflection. By shaping game mechanics and narrative systems, orgas shape new experiences.
And then there are the transformations we experience individually. Whether physical, through our costumes, or more intimate, through what our gaming experiences change in us.
Finally, it’s also as a community that we evolve. Through our practices, the way we create our games, our customs, our trends… Yesterday’s community is definitely not today’s, nor does it resemble tomorrow’s.
